Projects
Since 1999 MiA has worked with the following projects:
  • Participation in EU project "Gaining from Diversity" and "Global Cities"
  • Projects for the Municipality of Oslo dedicated to qualifying immigrants working in municipal health, nursing and similar institutions.
  • Arranging courses, seminars and meetings for various strata of public servants; projects and initiatives, teachers, labour representatives, company managers etc.
  • Participation in the organisation of conferences and seminars in the area of immigrant welfare, education and working life.
  • Exchange of information and networking for companies, organisations, public authorities, educational institutions etc.
  • Management of Leonardo da Vinci pilot project Pakistani women in Nursing and Care 2000 - 2003.
  • Partner in a Leonardo da Vinci pilot project «Immigrants Access to Language and Society» 2001 - 2004.
  • Partner in "Care for Minority Elders" 2007 - 2009.
  • Education of "Bridges".
  • Partner in "Electricity attracts life" 2008 - 2011.
  • Partner in "Illiad" 2008 - 2011 and several other exchange programmes.
  • Nordic Forum
  • Partner in "European Intercultural Workplace" 2003 - 2007.
In 2003, MiA has pursued projects and initiatives as follows:
  • Contract work for the Municipality of Oslo for immigrant employees.
  • Project for immigrant workers at Ringnes Brewery and Arcus Liquor and Wine Producers
  • Initiating and starting training projects for immigrants working in the building and construction sector.
  • Arranging workshops on current affairs for diverse immigrant target groups.
  • Initiated a campaign for diversity at the workplace.
  • Published articles and reports and completed a report on immigrants and poverty for the Department of Health and Social Services.
  • Participated in meetings and drafted reports for hearings for The Ministry of Education and Research (modifying the competence of immigrants) and the Ministry of Local Government and Regional Policy (of which one department is the Department of Migration) on the issue of opening national borders to unskilled labour.
  • Participation in a project intended for immigrant youth in an area with a high percentage of immigrants in Oslo.
  • Several projects for The Municipal Training Institute of Oslo.
  • Co-operation with the International Women’s Group in Oslo.
  • Projects for the training of teachers in multicultural instruction in co-operation with the Institute for Pedagogic Research at the University of Oslo and the College of Akershus.
  • Development of a project intended for immigrant parents with children in primary school.
  • Participation in a project for the schooling for caretakers.
  • Conducted several seminars in Oslo in connection with participation in International projects.
